ANXIETY

Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed with worry and tension? Are you often nervous on the inside, even if others don't notice? You may be experiencing the real and treatable problem of anxiety.

The most distressing kind of anxiety response is a panic attack. If you have ever had one, you will recognize a number of the following symptoms:

      1. racing or pounding heart
      2. sweating
      3. trembling or shaking
      4. feeling as if you can't breathe or choking
      5. chest pain
      6. nausea
      7. feeling dizzy or lightheaded
      8. a feeling of "unreality", like being detached from your body
      9. fears of losing control or "going crazy"
      10. fear of dying
      11. numbness or tingling
      12. chills or hot flashes

Some people experience anxiety about being outside their home alone, being in a crowd, or being on a bridge. Others become very anxious in social situations, or even thinking about them. Often times, it's difficult to know where the anxious feelings come from, they just seem to always be there "for no reason". You may be experiencing this generalized form of anxiety if you experience:

    1. restlessness or feeling keyed up
    2. becoming easily fatigued
    3. trouble concentrating or your mind going blank
    4. irritability
    5. muscle tension
    6. difficulty staying or falling asleep

If this describes your experience, you may be suffering from a debilitating but treatable condition. For more information, please give us a call.
